Scholarships and the New Curriculum

To maintain eligibility for scholarships, you must be registered for at least 16 credtis each quarter. The new curriculum includes some 15-credit quarters. It is YOUR responsibility to take something else to maintain the 16 credit minimum.

Ohio Space Grant Consortium

OSGC offers a $2000 scholarship for juniors and a $3000 scholarship for seniors in engineering. Information is available outside Dr. Young's office, or from Dr. Roger Radcliff in the Dean's Office. Application deadline is January 31.

Register for Scholarships

Current students wishing to be considered for scholarships for the 2001-2002 academic year must register sometime between January 3 and March 10 with the university financial aid office. You may do this on-line via Netscape or your OAK account. You will need your RAC (from your DARS report) and your PID (from your student ID). (If you will be a freshman in 2001-2002, you are automatically registered and do not need to fill out this form.)

Please note that you do NOT need to be an A student to get a scholarship. In past years, the College of Engineering has received less than its share of scholarship money simply because many of our students failed to apply for scholarships. Also note that we select from the university's list of people who have asked for scholarships even when we get a special scholarship just for Chem E's. The online scholarship application is the ONLY way we have of knowing that you would like to be considered for a scholarship. Please fill it out.

Co-Ops Keep Scholarships

Ohio University's policy reads . . .
"A student on co-op or internship assignment will be eligible to receive the normal three scheduled quarterly payments of a scholarship award if a) the work experience is full-time (normally 40 hours per week), b) the course registration for the individual student earns academic credit during the quarter of work experience and has been approved by the college dean or the dean's designee, and c) the student will not have already received a university scholarship award for 12 quarters since enrolling as a freshman at Ohio University (or a pro-rated number of quarters for a student who transferred to Ohio University)."

Note: This only applies if you are in the approved co-op program monitored by Marty North. If you take off a quarter for a job you arrange yourself, you forfeit your scholarship for the quarter.
