What is SME?

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers, founded in 1932, has more than 40,000 members in 70 countries with over 400 senior and student chapters. The purpose of the Society is to advance scientific knowledge in Manufacturing Engineering, provide the means and methods of applying such knowledge both in practice and education, and to promote and engage actively in research, writing, publishing, and dissemination of knowledge within this field.

What does SME do?

SME student chapters meet once about every two weeks. At those meetings we will schedule educational plant tours, picnics, and other special events. We also discuss plans for projects and internships.

Why join SME?

SME will take you on tours, introduce you to manufacturing professional contacts, and provide you with an environment in which to increase and enrich your knowledge in the manufacturing industry and have a lot of fun doing it.
