AERO DESIGN
® COMPETITION

The Aero Design Competition challenges engineering students
to conceive, design, fabricate, and test a radio controlled
aircraft that can take off and land while carrying the maximum cargo.

Competition was held:
04/12/2002 - 04/14/2002
Site: Cocoa Beach, Florida, United States

In our maiden competition, the "Bobcat Flyer" was able to successfully take off and land carrying a payload of 10 lbs. during the first round of competition. During the second round the Bobcat Flyer sustained some damage due to some rather severe tail winds and was unable to compete in the following rounds.  However, SAE was very impressed with our accomplishments as a first-time competitor in the event.  Bobcat Flyer finished in 17th place in a field of almost 40 competing teams.  Congratulations to the team, and Good Luck in future AeroDesign competitions!

"I think we built a strong reputation for Ohio University this weekend. We had many compliments about the quality of our design and many teams were looking forward to us competing next year. We learned a lot this year and proved to everyone that we will be competitive in the future."
- Senior Nick Haynes, OUSAE
