Reflections

This is a particularly interesting topic for me. I was born into the Roman Catholic faith and after attending 12 years of parochial school I felt that I knew enough about my religion to hold me for the rest of my life. I was WRONG. Thanks in part to Scott and Kimberly Hann's book "Rome Sweet Home" and the EWTN channel's programming I have found a renewed interest and thirst for knowledge about the Church that Jesus Christ founded (that's right).

Like a lot of American Catholics I was led (willingly I might add) down a path that tends to part from the Roman Catholic teachings. Thankfully I am now studying and learning more about what the Church actually teaches instead of what others might say. The Catechism of the Catholic Church certainly opened my eyes on a number of issues. I have also started to understand how the Catholic faith (this includes our Mass, Devotion to Mary, etc.) is deeply rooted in the Bible despite what others may say.

My protestant brothers and sisters may have disagreements with what I believe but after witnessing the conversion of many protestants to the Roman Catholic faith I thank God for the blessings that I have receive and pray to continue to bear witness for Jesus and do his good works. I am finding myself to be what I consider an Orthodox Roman Catholic. You can't just pick and choose which parts of religion that you agree with. Our Holy Father Pope John Paul II is leading the Church forward, acknowledging past mistakes and preparing us for the future.

How about Music...

I love music of most kinds and can pretty much tolerate everything for a short time. Recently I have had a rekindling of interest in it because of Lord of the Dance and Yanni. I have met quite a few people since then and I believe that music makes the world a better place for all of us unless it is used to spread hatred. I now consider myself to be a "citizen of the world" as one of my favorite t-shirts says. Hey, we are all here on this globe and we should probably do all that we can to make the best of it. I don't believe in reversing technological advances just so we can live a "simpler" life and I don't think that everything we do is going to have a catastrophic impact on this mother earth. I think that the earth will take care of itself with corrective measures.

Movies...

Have you seen the movie "Contact" with Jodie Foster? I love it. I was finally able to record it a second time the other day. I had to because our original recording was worn out from viewing it so much. Anybody know if there is going to be a sequel? I haven't visited the movie's website lately so I don't know if there is any word.

The first Star Wars episode is AWESOME!

As time permits I will add/remove comments to try and keep the page up to date. I've been doing a lot of flight testing lately and it has really used up my time. Can we add 6 hours to the day?
