Overview

After finishing his master's degree at Ohio University, Dr.Mehta joined the college as manager of the CAD/CAM System and part-time instructor in 1988. Before coming to the University, he was a design engineer for Anup Engr., Ltd., in India. Dr. Mehta completed his doctoral work in the Ohio University's Individualized Interdisciplinary Program involving chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and mathematics. His research interests include CAD/CAE/CIM, FEA applied to processing of polymers, metals and composites, biomechanics, biomoleculer modeling and drug design, Web-based Teaching and Problem based Active Learning, and AI and virtual reality applications in medicine and manufacturing. He has published more than 60+ technical papers and four reports and has given several invited talks. He has chaired sessions at major conferences, has co-organized a conference on extrusion and was the co-chair of the 4th Ohio Aerospace Institute's Neural Networks conference held at Ohio University. Dr. Mehta has directed 60+ MS and 1 Ph.D. thesis (graduated) and is currenlty advising 8 MS and 5 Ph.D. students. He has received research funding of over a million dollars from industry, goverment and internal sources.
