ME471
Individual Design for Manufacturing and Assembly Guidelines:
Reminder - Subsystem
/ Component Level DFMA Expectations: Each individual team member should
take responsibility for one or more items from start (Conceptual Design) to
finish (manufacturing drawings and plans).
As part of this responsibility, each individual will explain their DFMA
approach in a short report to be included in the appendix of the design report
(and referenced within the report).
Expectations by the
end of ME471: Each
team member will have a draft report (included in the Appendix) that
1) identifies the
subsystem/component they have responsibility for
2) identifies important
considerations for manufacturing that component (start to think about specific
features, tolerances, surface finishes, part treatments, etc.)
3) describes how detailed DFM will be applied and included
in the manufacturing drawings and plans that will be completed later.
Note: The work is not expected to be finished this quarter,
but it should be started. The
manufacturing drawings will be done next quarter, but now is the time to be
considering manufacturability for all parts.
