Porcelain Insulators are used, inter alia, to hang overhead lines from transmission-tower crossarms.
They’re designed to be self healing, i.e.; to deliberately flashover for extremely high voltage surges (e.g., lightning).
They’re designed to minimize corona (a cause of both energy loss and RFI).
