Some Approaches to Job Design Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory
According to this theory, the two categories of job features which increase worker motivation and job satisfaction are:
1. Hygiene factors (satisfiers): These are factors extrinsic to the work such as work environment, supervision, salary, etc.
2. Motivators: Intrinsic factors such as those listed in slide 5 (See text p. 313 for further details)
