5.7 Frequency Response of Circuits cont.
This transfer function can be written in polar form as H(jw) = M(w)/q(w) where:
M(w) = {1/[1 + (w/3)2]½} and q(w) = -tan-1(w/3)
So both the gain’s magnitude and phase angle depend on frequency; i.e., M(0) = 1 (which is also M’s maximum) and q(0) = 0° whereas Lim[M(w)] and Lim[q(w)] as w ® ¥ are 0 and -90° respectively
Note also that for (w/3) >> 1, M(w) » 3/w (which means higher gain for lower frequencies)
What’s M(w) and q(w) when w = 3 Rad./Sec.?
