Transformers consist of two or more coils of wire coupled magnetically by way of a magnetic circuit (core)
The source-side (coil) is traditionally referred to as the primary side of the transformer
The load-side (coil) is traditionally referred to as the secondary side of the transformer
Sometimes the windings are referred to as the high- (HV) and Low- (LV) windings
