Phi Delta Theta Fraternity
I'm still in shock about it myself, but yes I'm a frat boy.
(if you take offense to the term "frat".... get a life!) I joined this old chapter (1868, OH gamma) and at the time there were only 7 guys
and it has now risen to 25 members. I was actually crazy enough to spend one year as VP. Now I'm the Historian, I just take lots of pictures at events and my duties are fulfilled. If you're the slightest bit interested in frat life I encourage
you to at least check it out. Frats do have a bad name and they well deserve it in most cases. So why would you want to be known as a beer drinkin' moron who can't even pass TV classes? Well the beer drinking can be fun and meeting lots of poeple is always a nice side effect, but mainly it's a good way to escape from
the other poeple that you see everyday, your roomates. Give it a shot, at least there should be some free beer at the rush party.
Student Senate
My will was bent by some of my phi-delt brothers to run for student senate. I despise politics. I spend my life trying to avoid the subject, except as maybe a conversation tool.
The last thing I want to do is be involved with a bunch of mud slinging, power hungry, ego-trippers on their way to kiss the next baby or ass...depending on which looks better. I found out that even at the college level politicians are full of B.S.
However I did learn that students do have a voice even if it is a small one. Not only does senate provide me a way to voice my opinions but I feel as if I'm informed on issue. I'd rather understand what the university is trying to do instead of wondering why strange things are happening.
AIChE
So this is one of those neat things to put on your resume so employers think your perfect. So I pay my dues and get a card or something and attend the parties. What more can you ask for?
I wish the frat was more like that. Infact it would be if we did away with chapter meetings. So I therefor encourage you to get that resume looking good and party with your friends by taking a look at what the
American Institue of Chemical Engineers, AIChE, can do for you.
