RFID Workshop. October
13 & 14 or December 8 & 9. A two day workshop that is to
be delivered in Columbus Ohio. The goal of the workshop is to educate
business and IT managers about RFID including the technology, business
considerations, standards and data structures. There will be hands-on
labs and a RFID based shipping demonstration.
One of the main purposes of the Center for Automatic Identification
is educating people about Automatic Identification and Data
Capture (AIDC)
technologies. The main educational activities include:
Automatic Identification and Data Capture Technical Institute (AIDCTI)
Understanding and Using Bar Codes-Plus (UUBC+)
In-plant seminars
Technology transfer projects with local and regional businesses
AIDC courses within the Russ College of Engineering and Technology
One of the Center's main educational activities has been the
Automatic Identification & Data
Capture Technical Institute held each summer at Ohio University. This
week long educational activity is jointly sponsored by the uniform code council
and AIM, Inc., as a means of helping university and community college professors
better understand and teach the technical aspects of keyless data entry.
Other educational activities include on-campus bar coding workshops,
"Understanding and Using Bar Codes," designed to help businesses that are
interested in implementing a bar code system.
The Center also conducts in-plant seminars on bar coding and AIDC to educate
employees at a particular business location. Also the Center is involved
with local and regional businesses through technology transfer projects such
as designing and demonstrating an AIDC system.
