Automatic Identification & Data
Capture Technical Institute
About AIDCTI
The Automatic Identification and Data Capture Technical Institute, co-sponsored by AIM, Inc. and the Uniform Code Council, is held annually at the Center for Automatic Identification in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology at Ohio University.
The weeklong event allows college and university
professors as well as technical and business professionals to meet,
learn about AIDC technologies and applications, and exchange ideas.
Academic participants represent a wide variety of disciplines,
including healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, merchandising,
business and engineering from around the world. Business attendees
represent manufacturing, retailing, AIDC products and services, as
well as healthcare and the U.S. Department of Defense.
T he
Institute
includes both classroom and hands-on lab time dedicated to all of
the major AIDC technologies. Bar coding and Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) are emphasized heavily, and the course content
also covers biometrics, card technology and contact memory
applications. The participants put the classroom theory to
practical use in the hands-on lab sessions dedicated to each AIDC
technology. Labs include supply chain challenges employing bar
coding and RFID at various levels of packaging, access control to
secure areas via the use of biometrics data capture, assigning
“report cards” to bar code symbols based on their measured quality,
and an extensive hands-on familiarity with representative equipment
from a broad array of equipment and service providers.
AIDCTI
participants, regardless of their discipline or field of expertise,
leave with an increased understanding of and familiarity with the
latest AIDC technologies as well as a new confidence level in their
use of state of the art equipment. They in turn are able to apply
their newfound knowledge in their classrooms or their business
environment.
The
2005 Institute will be held between Sunday, July 24th and
Friday, July 29th on the beautiful Ohio University campus
