Announcing the 19th Annual Automatic Identification
and Data Capture
Technical Institute
July 24 – 29, 2005
The Center for Automatic Identification at Ohio University is proud to
announce the 19th annual Automatic Identification and Data Capture
Technical Institute, (AIDCTI) scheduled for Sunday, July 24 through
Friday, July 29, 2005 on the Ohio University campus. The Center is a
non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and educating automatic
identification and data capture to college and university faculty
members as well as industry professionals. The event is co-sponsored
by Ohio University, AIM, Inc. and the Uniform Code Council, Inc.
Participants arrive in time for a reception and dinner Sunday
evening. This is an opportunity for them to meet one another and
learn about the events of the coming week. A picnic is held on
Thursday evening at a local scenic park, which enables everyone to
visit and interact casually.
Technical details and practical applications are included in each
session throughout the week conducted by widely recognized experts.
In the past 18 years we have had educators from various countries
attend our Institute. They have traveled from Peru, South Africa, the
UK, Canada, Taiwan, Argentina, Egypt, Korea, Russia, Poland, etc and
from all over the U.S. They represent disciplines such as Healthcare,
Engineering, Sciences, Business, Apparel, Textiles, Merchandising,
Industrial Studies, Manufacturing and Construction, just to mention a
few. The goal of the AIDCTI is to proliferate knowledge about
Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) through universities
and colleges, as well as throughout the technical and business
sectors.
Typical sessions
include, but are not limited to:
-
AIDC Technology
and Applications Overview
-
Bar Code
Printing, Verification, and Scanning
-
Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID)
-
Global Standards
& Commerce
-
Card
Technologies
-
Biometrics
-
Supply
Chain/EDI/XML
-
Industry-specific applications e.g. Automotive, Healthcare, U.S.
Dept. of Defense
-
Data Structures,
Data Carriers, Data Communications and Data Integration
-
Project
Implementation and Systems Integration
Sessions also
include hands-on lab activities on all AIDC Technologies and
their applications.
Business and Technical attendees usually come for one of two reasons.
Either they are new to the business and want to learn the technologies
and applications or they are interested in learning the relationships
of their technology to other AIDC technologies in order to better
serve their clients.
Professors, on the other hand, take the knowledge back to their
institutions and programs. In turn, they incorporate AIDC into their
curriculum to teach their students. This allows the students to be
ready to solve real-world business problems with these technologies
when they graduate.
